Students are making a mini-book of relative size. They are to decide what their referent is (the thing mentioned in the title), make two comparisons, and then finish like the book did by coming back to their referent.
Front Cover: Is a ____ the Biggest Thing There Is?
pp. 2-3: Describe a big thing. Is it the biggest thing there is?
pp. 4-5: Describe something bigger and compare it to your thing.
pp. 6-7: Describe something even bigger and compare it to the thing on the previous page.
Back Cover: It's definitely bigger than a ________.
This project is due on Monday 1/26 and is worth 25 points. Students are graded on three criteria: neatness, completeness, and turned in on time. For work that lacking in one of those three areas, 20 points will be awarded. For work that only has one of the three criteria, 15 points will be awarded.
There will be some time given in class over the next week and then students will have a weekend to finish up at home if needed.
