Thanks to the many of you who sent back in the materials from the first day packet! Today we continued to work on our morning routine of coming into the room and beginning Monitored Independent Reading (MIR). Almost every student had their planner signed this morning and reading minutes recorded (in adult handwriting). Yay!
HOMEWORK: Read 20 minutes and record in planner with parent initials.
As a side note: I would encourage each parent to join the PTA. It is only $5 for the entire school year. You do not need to be available to volunteer to be a member. Your dues help pay for field trips and other programs.
A TRACK MATH
Same as C Track.
B TRACK MATH
Same as C Track except we didn't get a chance to play SKUNK.
C TRACK MATH
We finished our baseline math timings. I will be gathering this information and making recommendations to you about what your child needs to work on for basic math facts. We have put together our "file folders". This is where the students will keep all work that I return to them between progress reports. You can expect one big stack of work every three (or so) weeks. We also played a math game called SKUNK. You can play this game at home to help with your addition and mental math skills. The directions are here.
HOMEWORK: This assignment is OPTIONAL. Post a comment here on the blog about something you learned about yourself today - the results of your baseline timings. What are you starting to look forward to?
